There’s something incredibly satisfying about returning to a place you once called home, especially when you get to share it with your family. Phuket, with its lush landscapes and vibrant culture, is that special place for us. Having lived there for four years, the island holds a treasure trove of memories, and this time, we were eager to create new ones with our 7-year-old son during our stay at Phuket Club Med.
The first thing that hit us when we arrived at the resort was the feeling of familiarity mixed with the excitement of something new. The last time we were in Phuket, our son was just a toddler, barely old enough to appreciate the beauty around him. Now, as a curious and adventurous 7-year-old, he was ready to dive into everything the island—and the resort—had to offer.
A Day at Phuket Club Med
One of the highlights of our stay was the sheer range of activities at Phuket Club Med. On our first full day, after a leisurely breakfast overlooking the sea, we decided to explore the resort’s offerings. Our son was immediately drawn to the Kid’s Club, where he spent the day bouncing between treasure hunts, swimming, and trying his hand at archery. Seeing him so engaged and happy gave us the chance to unwind and soak up the atmosphere.
For me, a return to Phuket wouldn’t be complete without some time on the water. While our son was busy with his new friends, my wife and I took a leisurely sail around the bay. The gentle waves and the distant view of the Big Buddha brought back so many memories of our time living here. It was peaceful, familiar, and a reminder of why we fell in love with Phuket in the first place.
Unexpected Discoveries
Even though we were returning to a place we knew well, there were still surprises. One afternoon, we decided to take a guided nature walk around the resort. What was supposed to be a casual stroll turned into an educational adventure for our son, who was fascinated by the local flora and fauna. He spotted a chameleon blending into the trees and even learned about the different types of birds that inhabit the area. It was one of those unplanned moments that ended up being a highlight of the trip.
In the evenings, we made it a tradition to watch the sunset together. There’s something about the sunsets in Phuket that never gets old, no matter how many times you’ve seen them. We found a quiet spot on the beach, and as the sky turned shades of pink and orange, our son ran along the shoreline, his laughter echoing against the waves. It was in those simple, unhurried moments that we felt the true magic of being back in Phuket.
More Than Just a Vacation
What made this trip special wasn’t just revisiting the places we loved, but seeing them through our son’s eyes. His excitement, his wonder, and his endless curiosity reminded us of why we loved Phuket in the first place. Phuket Club Med was more than just a resort; it became the backdrop for reconnecting with a place that still feels like home.
As we tucked our son into bed that night, tired but happy, we knew this trip would be one we’d talk about for years to come. And even though there’s still so much more to explore, that’s the beauty of Phuket—it’s a place you can return to again and again, and it will always have something new to offer.
